Blockchain-Secured Federated Learning for Livestock Disease Early Warning

Supervisor: Dr. Chongomweru Halimu

My Master's research targets foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) detection in Ugandan cattle farms. It combines distributed machine learning — so farm data never has to leave the source — with blockchain for trust and tamper-resistance, designed to be lightweight enough to deploy in resource-constrained rural environments.

Expected outcomes

  • An open-source prototype
  • Peer-reviewed publications
  • A deployable early-warning dashboard
